fashion action is climate action is collective action
SINCE 2021, A SINGLE THREAD HAS UNITED COMMUNITIES THROUGH SUSTAINABLE FASHION WEEK - OUR ANNUAL GRASSROOTS MOVEMENT POWERED BY LOCAL ACTION, NATIONWIDE AND BEYOND.
Through creative events and programmes, Sustainable Fashion Week meets you where you are to build sustainable fashion into your everyday life. Gain knowledge, learn skills and find your people. Stop buying into fast fashion. Start building a wardrobe that means something.
OUR 2026 theme: threads of resistance
An invitation to build community and an alternative fashion system, this year’s theme is all about resistance.
Resisting the dominant narrative that we are powerless - the power is in our hands (and our wallets)!
Resisting the move towards isolation, keeping community at the heart of everything we do.
Resisting being told who to be, how to dress, who to support and what to believe - finding our own way.
Resisting the push for overconsumption from big corporations, celebrating the small and mighty businesses, organisations, makers and activists that keep the brighter movement alive.
If this sounds like you - keep reading to find out how you can get involved.
How to take part
SFW is decentralised and community-led. Anyone can take part (individuals, companies, community groups...).
You can take action by hosting multiple activities as a ‘Hub’, or a single event as part of our Community Events series.
What kind of events are we thinking of? ANYTHING that seeks to empower positive change in how we buy, wear, care and dispose of clothing. Our programmes are usually full of...
FASHION SHOWS // REPAIR CAFES // WORKSHOPS // TALKS //
FILM SCREENINGS // STYLING EVENTS // PANEL DISCUSSIONS //
ACTIVISM // CLOTHES SWAPS // SKILLS SHARING... AND MORE!
It doesn’t matter if you’ve done this before - you can run an event for 5 people, or 500 people.
SFW PLANNING MEETINGS
Thinking of taking part in Sustainable Fashion Week this year, but want some help getting started? Or maybe you know exactly what you’re doing, and just want to connect with other people taking part?
This year, we’re hosting a series of drop-in planning meetings for anyone thinking about being part of the movement this year. They’re a perfect opportunity to meet the team, ask questions, share ideas and connect with others who are taking part. They’re also free, informal, and open to everyone, so come along!
