MEET YOUR HOSTS:

Slow Fashion Studio, based at Sparks in Bristol—a department store reimagined for a fairer, more sustainable future—is a community-led space bringing together textile workshops, clothing repair, and a reclaim shop of second-hand haberdashery and fabrics.

Through skill-sharing and access to materials, the studio supports people to extend the life of their clothing, encouraging creative reuse and more sustainable relationships with what we wear.

Founded by Meret Faerber, who began hosting sewing workshops and offering clothing repair services in Bristol in 2023, the studio grew from a desire to make mending skills more accessible and to challenge the culture of overconsumption in fashion. Now co-directed with Lisa Matzi of Rebel Patch—a multidisciplinary designer creating limited edition art patches for repair and upcycling—Slow Fashion Studio combines practical skills with creative expression. Together, they deliver workshops, repair services, and resources that empower communities to care for, customise, and reimagine the clothes they already own, fostering a culture of radical repair and long-term use.
