Future Citizen is a week of sustainable fashion action for 11 to 23-year-olds. It’s about sharing knowledge, learning new skills and building fashion habits that stick. Coordinated by A Single Thread, we connect schools, colleges and universities across the country. Each one is invited to host activities for students and their wider community - shining a light on fashion's real impact on people and planet.

The theme for Future Citizen 2026 is RESILIENCE IN STYLE: Redefining Fashion. In a world designed to make you consume more, dressing on your own terms is an act of resistance.
This year, we’re asking: how do you actively shape your relationship with fashion through personal style?

In the UK, 47% of adults are buying pre-loved clothing, rising to 72% among Gen Z.
In the UK, nine in ten young adults bought a pre-loved item in the last year.
Buying a pair of jeans second hand could save over 30kg of CO2e, equivalent to making 600 cups of tea. Milk with no sugar, please!
