Introducing SFW Hub: Stroud led by Annabel Richmond of Just Sust Festival.
WHAT’S ON?
SATURDAY 20 SEPTEMBER
-
Times: 11.00am-3.00pm
Join Emergence Restock + Just SUST Festival on Saturday 20 September for a creative community event celebrating the reuse of school uniforms and reducing textile waste.
Visitors are invited to collect rescued school uniform shirts, discover how they can be repaired, customised or transformed into something new, and learn more about circular fashion. The event will include demonstrations, inspiration for upcycling, and information about how unwanted school uniforms can be kept in use for longer rather than ending up in landfill.
The event will also launch Emergence Restock as an ongoing collection point for unwanted school shirts, helping to give hundreds of garments a second life through repair, reuse and creative upcycling.
This event is open to everyone, whether you're a maker, a beginner, or simply interested in sustainable fashion and reducing textile waste in your community.
Location: Emergence Commons, 1A Kendrick Street, Stroud, Gloucestershire, GL5 1AQ.
VENUE ACCESSIBILITY
The site is level with ramps available at each entrance - but some outside areas of the mill are uneven. Suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs. A disabled parking bay is sited alongside the Sanctuary building.
All venues are accessible unless specified.
MEET YOUR HOSTS:
Annabel Richmond spearheads Just Sust Festival in Stroud.
Just SUST Festival is an annual, Stroud-based, community sustainable fashion and climate engagement festival using creativity, repair, reuse and community action to encourage behaviour change.
The festival is free to attend and includes a Makers' Market, activist talks, film, workshops and a community runway show. Held on 27 February 2027, 10.30am-10pm. It is designed to bring awareness to the Future Citizen arm of Sustainable Fashion Week. Organised by Annabel Richmond at an old textile mill run by Brimscombe Mill charity operating social enterprises for the community.
The Mill buildings can feel cold in the winter, so wrap up warm! Refreshments are available but a hot flask might be useful. There is something for all ages and abilities on site during festival day, and the Mill has a children's play area and a climbing wall. Check out more about the Mill here.
To enter the community runway show there is a fee of £3.50 (reduced for groups or schools) and booking is required. Information and booking link here.
Keep an eye on the website or socials to book film or runway audience tickets. Families are welcome at the event. For runway participation entrants under 16 years must be accompanied by their responsible adult. There is a licensed bar on site.
